I Might as Well be a Lemon is a 50 minuet performance based on the structure of a play, in two parts. It follows the Character Charlotte, whom finds herself in situations where she feels like a lemon, whilst talking to men, women, and family members. She finds herself talked over, explained too, yet finds it hard to confront people. The set design is all made by Gash, imitating real objects as cardboard and plaster painted props, as well as painted backdrops for each scene. The documentation of the Performance I Might As Well Be A Lemon is in the form of photos, as well as a trailer in the form of a Behind the Scenes DOCUMENTARY STYLE FILM BASED in which Gash imitates a male artists behind the scenes video, I have made a behind the scenes documentary style video work inspired by a male artist Adam Green’s behind the scenes documentary he made about his film Aladdin, in which he describes himself as a genius of hand made aesthetic, as if this sort of craft has never been done before. As I have a slightly similar aesthetic, instead of using the artists who performs for the performance to act in the behind the scenes video, I used their voices and the props used in the performance take their place, to emphasise the ridiculousness of male artists admiration.
